If you are looking for a book that will tell you what to do, how and when to get started and what you need, you do not want this book. This is more like a commercial for the authors school and teaching materials. Very little of actual how-to at all in this book. It basically points you to several websites, if I am not mistaken all run by the author or his affiliates, where you need to buy the teaching material and the methods on how to teach your baby. And let me tell you their recommended teaching materials are insanely expensive. The only thing the book gives is a proposed schedule.I am a slow reader but there is so much white space in this book and so little of interest it took me barely 2 hours to read it cover to cover, all 111 pages of it. Extremely disappointed about this book. Most of the information in the book you can find on their website so do not spent your money on the book. Trust me not worth the paper its printed on.

This is a very clear and concise How-To book with lots of practical advice. It is easy to read (I finished mine in one sitting) which is definitely a plus for a busy working mom like me. The methods used in this book are based on the Doman principles of right brain learning and adapted to teaching traditional Chinese. The author advocates teaching traditional over simplified characters for several reasons which he cites in the book. However, you can easily adapt his methods to teach simplified Chinese just as well. I had been letting my 14 month old watch the Baby Learns Chinese videos and they were nice to get the baby acquainted to the sounds of some very basic vocabulary of the Chinese language. But I was stumped as to how to proceed to the next step to Chinese literacy. This book fills in the void nicely with a practical step-by-step approach. It also gives several very useful links to websites for Chinese education materials which is invaluable to overseas Chinese like me. Best of all, if you follow the recommendations in this book, I believe you will be able to teach your baby Chinese even if you don't speak the language yourself!
